ABOUT US

OUR STORY

Hi, I'm Tenzing! The creator and founder of Ama's Tibetan Hot Sauce. As a first-generation Tibetan-American and Oregonian, my diverse heritage shapes my story. My parents, Tibetan immigrants, profoundly influenced me. My father's journey, transitioning from the Tibetan Army to seeking refuge in India following the communist invasion, is intricately interwoven with the presence of my "Ama," which translates to "mom" in Tibetan. The trajectory of my parents meeting in India led them to get married and establish roots in Oregon, where they conscientiously cultivated the foundation for our family's future. Culinary excellence runs in my family. My parents were remarkable cooks. The local Tibetan community honored my father, selecting him three times to cook for the Dalai Lama during his Oregon visits—a testament to his skill. Furthermore, my mother "Ama," also concocted hot sauce for the Dalai Lama. Yet, it was she who absorbed my father's cooking wisdom and surpassed his abilities. The heartwarming embrace of our beloved hot sauces, a symbol of Tibetan cuisine, ignited her passion and enriched our home-cooked meals. The kitchen's aroma of dumplings infused with the warmth of hot sauce, is a vivid memory from my childhood. Our table gatherings unveiled my parents' hospitality and culinary skill, with the hot sauce taking center stage. Driven by a deep desire to share our Tibetan culture and cherished family hot sauces, we’ve embarked on a journey to share Ama’s Tibetan Hot Sauce into your home.
